Arthritis is an inflammatory condition of the joint or joints. Its chief symptoms include pain, swelling, stiffness (sometimes causing deformity), and reduced mobility.
The most common form of arthritis is called “osteoarthritis”. Osteorarthritis occurs when the cartilage that covers bone endings begins to deteriorate. The once-smooth surface of the cartilage becomes rough, and through friction, begins to break down. The normally smooth sliding surfaces of the bones become pitted and irregular. The tendons, ligaments, and muscles holding the joint together become weaker, and the joint itself becomes deformed, painful and stiff.
Another arthritis-related condition is called “rheumatoid arthritis”, or “RA”. This is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system improperly rejects the synovial membranes that secrete the lubricating fluid in the joints. Often the bone surfaces are destroyed as well. The body, in an attempt to heal, replaces this damaged tissue with scar tissue, which causes the normal spaces within the joints to become narrow, and the bones to fuse together.
Avoiding the nightshade family of foods (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines) and reducing the intake of citrus fruits can be important.
Conventional arthritis treatment usually involves nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) such as ibuprofen. However, these drugs are harsh and carry side-effects; some of which may be lasting, and lead to other health problems.
At The Centre For Integrated Health, we take a natural and holistic approach to addressing arthritis. Although considered to be a genetic predisposition, it is manageable using natural health approaches. We’ve discovered that the root causes are often related to acidity in the body. Specific foods can also be aggravating, as can mental and emotional issues. It is not an inevitable symptom of age.
Our treatments typically involve both supplementation and SCENAR treatment. Supplementation works to alkalise the system, and to support the joints themselves. SCENAR treatment, on the other hand, acts directly on the inflammation. Surgery may be avoided in severe cases.
We also map out a specific diet for individuals who are sufferering, since supportive nutrients (and increased absorption of the nutrients) is instrumental. There are also, in many cases, foods whch need to be avoided. In our clinical experience, avoiding the nightshade family of foods (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines) is very important as well as reducing intake of citrus fruits. We also recommend NutriVital MSM, which is an excellent product to support healthy joints and NutriVital Daily Greens is also helpful in aiding the body to achieve good alkaline balance. We also recommend, where appropriate, Cider Apple Vinegar, Cod Liver Oil, HCL Protease, Cal-Mag-D, B-Complex and Flax seed oil.
Arthritic conditions often respond very well to specific homeopathic remedies, too. In one noteworthy case, a tremendous 90% remission was achieved using only a homeopathic remedy imprinted from our bioenergetic screening system.
Mrs. “P”, born in 1949, had a family history of arthritis. Her osteoarthritis was extremely painful in both wrists. She also suffered from slightly less severe osteoarthritis in both her knee and shoulder joints. Mrs. P had been taking various prescribed medications for four-and a-half years, with slight or very little temporary relief.
We used our BEST system to screen Mrs. P, and discovered that she was sensitive to citrus fruits, the nightshade family of vegetables (tomatoes, aubergines, peppers and potatoes), as well as caffeine, alcohol and wheat. In addition, she was deficient in trace minerals, B-Complex and essential fatty acids.
In our follow-up appointment one month later, after Mrs. P had excluded sensitive foods, taken the recommended supplements, and followed additional dietary advice, she self-reported a wonderful 75% improvement! She also noted increased mobility in the affected joints, and reduced pain and swelling. And even better, Mrs. P reported a further 20% improvement at the three month follow up appointment!
It’s our experience that the findings and results experienced by Mrs. P are typical of the numerous arthritis sufferers we have screened. There is so much that can be done to improve this condition, and changes usually only involve very simple adjustments in lifestyle, along with some basic nutrient supplementation.

The B group Vitamins work synergistically as co-factors for thousands of enzymatic reactions in the body.
Best known for their crucial role in energy production and reactions of the Krebs cycle, B vitamins are also vital for the breakdown and metabolism of fats, blood sugar control and fluid balance. They are especially effective at boosting energy during times of physical and or emotional stress, when these vitamins are quickly depleted.
The health and proper functioning of the cardiovascular system relies on B vitamins as they are involved in nerve conduction, neurotransmitter synthesis and proper muscle function, including that of the heart.
Adequate B vitamins are required by the endocrine system, with B6 showing to be particularly beneficial for balancing hormones in women with symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. B vitamins also support the health of the skin hair and nails.
Nutrivital B complex contains B6 in the most easily assimilated form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (p5p). It also includes Choline and Inositol which work in synergy with B vitamins
Today’s diet is vastly different from that of our ancestors, lacking both variety and essential nutrients due to depleted soils. Deficiencies are increasingly widespread and one of the most common of these is essential fatty acids.
While most essential fatty acids can be synthesized in the body, omegas 3 and 6 need to be supplemented through the diet. Flaxseed oil is an excellent source of omega 3, 6 and 9 and is the richest plant source of Omega 3.
Omega-3 fatty acids are the building blocks of cell membranes and proper functioning of the cell depends on the integrity of these membranes.
Omega 3 benefits nearly every body system and has been shown to help reduce heart disease, cholesterol, strokes, inflammatory diseases including skin conditions such as eczema, and offers support to the immune system, nervous system and joints.
Flax oil is high in lignans, gentle plant hormones which contribute to oestogen balance. It is also a good source of B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc.
More than 80% of the population have digestive problems. Many of these cases centre around a lack of digestive enzymes and low levels of HCL (stomach acid).
HCL and protease begins the digestive process, activating the denaturing of proteins before pancreatic enzymes take over. As well as being essential to proper digestion, HCL maintains an acidic environment in the stomach, defending against harmful pathogenic bacteria.
HCL naturally declines as we age but its production can also be disrupted by stress, infection and nutrient deficiencies.
HCL production requires mineral salts. However mineral absorption relies on adequate levels of HCL, Supplementation of HCL can assist the body to naturally produce more HCL itself. Nutrivital has included colloidal minerals to support the body’s own HCL production as well as plant derived protease for optimum digestion of proteins.
MSM is a naturally occurring, easily absorbed source of dietary sulphur, without the distinctive smell normally associated with sulphur compounds.
Sulphur has long been known to help maintain the condition of skin, hair and nails. It is a key component of chondroitin sulphate, an essential building block for the connective tissues, such as blood vessels, eyes and cartilage, which acts as shock absorbers in the joints. Sulphur maintains flexibility and elasticity in the soft tissues and is a precursor to glucosamine, which helps to rebuild cartilage and ligament tissue
Sulphur is needed for proper liver function and is essential production of glutathione, an important detoxifiying enzyme. Sulphur supports the detoxification and elimination of heavy metals from the body.
Sulphur is required for hormone synthesis and enzyme production, and has a healing influence on the mucous membranes lining the gastro-intestinal tract. It also alkalises the body, helping keep the immune system strong.
Cal-Mag-D plus has been designed to provide specific support to the skeletal system. Calcium, magnesium, boron, vitamin D and B6 work synergistically together in the development and maintenance of strong bones, healthy teeth, skin, hair and nails.
Nutrivital has included colloidal minerals for additional support to proper mineralization. Calcium and Magnesium support the nervous system and are required for the proper functioning of muscles and nerves. Cal-Mag-D Plus supports the metabolism of Iron and the utilsation of Vitamin C.
Magnesium is required in large amounts by the body and is increasingly lacking in the diets of many.
Both calcium and magnesium in this formula are in amino acid chelate form for optimum absorption and bioavailability.
