What is health screening?
Health screening is a quick and effective way of determining how your body is functioning. Health screening can be used to monitor your nutritional status, hormone balance, energetic health of internal organs, food sensitivities, environmental sensitivities and toxicity. The results from health screening allow accurate recommendations of remedies and remedial actions to promote health and healing.

What happens during a health screening?
Health screening with the Asyra System simply involves holding a brass rod connected to a test instrument in each hand. The test unit send out various frequencies and records your body’s response. You only feel the sensation of holding the probe. A printed report of the results is produced at the end of the test. There is no waiting for results. See screening page for more details.

And how long does this take?
Consultation, screening and treatment will take between one and two hours.

Do I need to give blood?
Absolutely not. Asyra health screenings are completely non-invasive.

What do the results tell me?
The results are produced immediately as the test is completed. Depending on the test carried out, the results will clearly indicate nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, organ imbalances, food intolerances or toxins present. The therapist will explain the results and make treatment recommendations. You will be given a copy of the printed report to take away.

How often will I need to be screened?
Usually it is recommended every two or three months while you are recovering from an illness and every twelve months for a general check up.

Do I need to be sick in order to benefit from health screening?
No. By monitoring your health status any weakness can be found and acted upon before symptoms appear. We use a holistic approach and believe the body heals itself. By ensuring your nutrient levels are balanced and you are avoiding intolerant foods, the body has the best chance of maintaining and promoting health, fitness and well-being.

Is it age dependant?
Any one of any age can be screened. We have worked with weaned babies and people over 90 years old.

If I have bad arthritis or eczema in my hands can I still be screened?
If your hands or feet cannot be probed successfully for any reason a third person, known as a surrogate, can be used. Whatever your condition we will be able to get readings and results.

Is there anything I need to do before my screening?
All we ask is that you refrain from applying oils and lotions on your hands on the day of your screening. These can reduce the sensitivity of the instrument. Otherwise there are no special requirements.

How does this instrument work?
The health assessment is performed by technique known as Electro Dermal screening. It combines modern electronic technology with an understanding of how the body responds based on traditional Orientla medicine.

In the 1950’s Dr R Voll discovered that acupuncture points, traditionally used for treatment, could also be used to measure an individual’s state of health. Through many thousands of screenings he found that particular points were associated with particular organ imbalances and health conditions. These principals were key in the development of the BEST Screening system, which was a highly developed version of Dr Voll’s original instrument monitored the body’s energetic response to various substances and tests through a process called biofeedback.

The Asyra System is the next generation of bio-energetic health screening. New technology has eliminated the need to test at each individual acupuncture point, making screenings faster than ever and eliminating variables that may arise from the administration of the screenings.

What is biofeedback?
We all respond to our environments in various ways. If you see, taste or hear something you really like you will think good thoughts and your body will physically respond by relaxing, producing saliva etc. If however you experience something undesirable you will respond very differently; tension, shallow breathing, thoughts of how to avoid it etc. Biofeedback is the process of monitoring how your body responds to various stimuli. With Electro Dermal Screening (EDS) systems this is done by monitoring electrical changes in acupuncture points while tests are performed.

Is it scientifically proven?
The original concepts of EDS was developed in the 1950’s. Since then many studies, tests and research papers have been produced, verifying the effectiveness of the process. There are many papers on the physics and bio-electrical principles behind EDS.
The Asyra system is also registered with the FDA in America. Most importantly, many hundreds of practitioners around the world have achieved considerable success using this equipment.

Will it show my allergies?
Using the results from the Asyra screening system, your practitioner will recommend a ‘smart-eating’ plan. This will include avoidance, for a period, of foods that you appear to be intolerant to. These ‘food intolerances’ and are basically reactions to constituents in foods that the body would prefer not to have at the moment. By eating these foods the body’s energy is directed to ‘neutralising’ them rather than digesting them and this can tend to lead to long-term health problems. People are often unaware of their food intolerances as the symptoms are very mild (initially at least) and happen quite some time after eating. It’s our experience that addressing food intolerances is a very important part of dealing with a wide range of health issues – anything from IBS to fatigue, migraine to hyperactivity.

Allergies on the other hand are a result of a fast acting immune system reaction that may have its roots in a traumatic event in the past. In many cases Electro Dermal screening will reveal allergies but other methods such as prick or RAST tests may also be helpful.

Why do you now recommend full body testing over food intolerance testing?
Testing for food intolerances often amounts to no more than testing for symptoms. Cutting certain foods out of the diet can alleviate the reaction but this does not solve the root cause or result in a better quality of life.

Phenolics are compounds that give plants and foods their colours, odours and tastes. Although they are essential bio-active compounds (due to their antioxidant activity within our systems), people can be intolerant to certain phenolics and polyphenolics. A deficiency of particular enzymes that metabolise any given phenolic will result in negative symptoms whenever it is ingested.

A food intolerance scan will simply identify intolerance to every food that happens to contain a certain phenolic. Identifying the phenolic as the cause of the reactions is invaluable and allows us to recommend specific remedies to help the body adjust. This can only be done with the insights gained from a full body scan.

In other cases, it may be a factor within a client’s body that is causing the intolerance. It’s often the case that the presence of a parasite or fungus will cause reactions to certain foods. The foods that are reacting to the problem will be identified by a food intolerance scan. A full body scan will identify the root of the problem and the most suitable course of treatment.

What are the treatments?
We recommend a variety of treatments. Depending on the results of your screening you may be recommended one or a combination of: nutritional supplements, smart eating programme, homeopathic remedies, herbal remedies, detoxification programs, lymphatic drainage, lifestyle changes, EFT or referral to a specialist.

How long will it take before I am better?
Most people notice changes to their health and well being after a couple of weeks from the beginning of treatments, though everyone experiences health challenges differently and respond to treatments differently. Some people recover very quickly, others take longer. Your therapist will advise you specifically on what results you should expect.

Will I have to change my diet and give up chocolate and coffee?
Your practitioner will give a good indicator as to how suitable your diet is for you. It may be that you have to give up some foods and eat more of others. There are substitutes for most foods and these will be discussed with you.

The payoff for adopting a diet that suits your body is very high. By keeping to the smart-eating plan your body can rebalance itself and accelerate the recovery process. In this way you should soon be able to return to eating most foods and experience better health.

What supplements will be recommended?
Where nutrients are found to be lacking you will be recommended food and herbal supplements. By taking the right supplements in the correct dosage, the body’s health balance can be very much boosted. Will I be given homeopathic remedies?
Homeopathic and imprinted remedies will be recommended after a full body screening and the energetic state of your internal organs has been assessed. Homeopathic remedies are very effective in promoting detoxification, drainage and desensitisation in the body.

What is lymphatic drainage massage?
The lymphatic system forms part of your immune system and is a vital part of your body’s ability to fight infections and diseases and deal with toxins. Over the years the lymphatic system can become clogged with toxins, impeding its function.

Lymphatic drainage massage is a way of dislodging toxin build-up and flushing them from the body. This can have a very positive effect on your health.
